Hello May!

April has seen a huge increase in requests for (and
delivering) Pharmacist Advice Medication Audits in care
homes. This is where we help & advise care homes to ensure
they safely: store, handle, administer, record and dispose of
medicines in the safest way possible which in turn helps care
homes comply with the regulations around medicines
management.

We have also modified a new version of our Medication
Competency course to adapt it for particular job roles for
one of our loyal customers ECL,  so their trusted assessors
have a different course to their local business managers.
Please get in contact today to see how, when and where
we can help you!

AIT is with you every step of the way

Charities we are supporting this month

AIT Medihelp is fundraising for Dementia UK and The Alzheimer’s
Society by taking part in “time for a cuppa”, with all proceeds
going to Dementia UK, and Bake for Dementia, with all proceeds
going to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Their
nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life changing care for
families affected by all forms of dementia – including Alzheimer’s
disease.
We will be hosting our events from 1st – 8th May with the hopes
of raising as much as we can for these wonderful charities. We
will be fundraising for the whole of May. Of course any and all
proceeds will be going to Dementia UK & Alzheimer’s Society.
Visit their websites for more information and our Just Giving page which can be
found on Facebook.

Dementia Action Week 16th – 22nd May

Dementia Action Week is an awareness raising campaign.
Each year, Dementia UK work with individuals and
organisations across the UK to encourage people to ‘act on
dementia’.
This year’s campaign will run from 16-22 May and focus on
the theme of diagnosis.
With diagnosis rates falling to a five-year low, Dementia UK
want to encourage those who might be living with
undiagnosed dementia to come to them for guidance and
support and feel empowered to take the next step.
At AIT we are lucky enough to work with some amazing individuals
who work tirelessly and selflessly to help and care for those living
with Dementia.
If you’re attending any of our training courses you may see us
campaigning for Dementia UK by raising money and awareness for
the charity. We’re also delighted to announce we are now a
“Dementia Friend’
A Dementia Friend is somebody that learns about dementia so
they can help their community.

Here’s what we’ve learnt since
becoming a dementia friend…

  • Dementia is not a natural part of ageing
  • Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain
  • Dementia is not just about losing your memory
  • It is possible to live well with dementia
  • There is more to the person than the dementia

In addition, the perception of dementia is negative – The Alzheimers
Society / Dementia UK want to change the way we think, act and
    talk about dementia.
Check out our socials to see us wearing our new Dementia Friend
    Badge with pride.
Visit the Dementia UK website to see how you can get involved in
    changing the stigma.
